Redford Township company is 10th in state to receive prestigious honor
LANSING – State Representative Andy Dillon (D-Redford) today praised Steel Industries Inc. for receiving the Michigan MSHARP award for continued excellence in safety from the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Act (MIOSHA).
Steel Industries Inc., an Ameri-Forge Group company, is the first forge shop in the United States and only the 10th company in Michigan to receive this award.
"The Redford community should be proud to have a business like Steel Industries that is investing in our community and providing jobs for our resident," Dillon said. "We need to support businesses that look out for their employees. I applaud Steel Industries for their commitment to excellence."
Steel Industries has shown significant growth in 2004 and 2005. Last fall, the company announced an $8 million capital expansion program for 2005-2006 at its Redford Township manufacturing facility. Plans include purchasing land and buildings near Steel Industries' current manufacturing facilities, constructing a new building, installing new equipment with the latest technology and expanding its workforce. A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new facility is planned for October 2006.
"Steel Industries is using the latest technology to bring manufacturing into the 21st century, and our workers only stand to benefit from it," Dillon said. "With companies like Steel Industries creating new jobs for our residents and raising the bar on safety, Michigan workers have a bright future ahead of them."
