LANSING – State Rep. Andy Dillon (D-Redford) has been appointed to the Joint Select Committee on Economic Growth. He already is serving on four House committees: Banking and Financial Services; Commerce; Energy and Technology; and 21st Century Oversight.
The committee will work to replace the Single Business Tax with a business tax that is more equitable, less complex and more conducive to business growth. The goal for the committee also is to construct a tax that helps create jobs and retain and expand businesses.
"I am honored to be named to this committee and I look forward to helping our state move ahead economically," Dillon said. "The future of our economy is at a crucial crossroads. We have to develop a plan that will bring businesses to our state and create good-paying jobs. It's time for a change and I am glad to be a part of something that will welcome businesses to our state and move Michigan's economy forward."
Dillon was a co-author of the 21st Century Jobs Package that is now being implemented to diversify and strengthen Michigan's economy.
